Fitzgerald Condo Remodel
Location: Grand Rapids, MI
Set within the historic Fitzgerald Building in downtown Grand Rapids, this 1,800-square-foot condominium was thoughtfully reimagined to balance modern living with the building’s early 20th-century character. Originally built in 1915 as the Grand Rapids YMCA, the structure retains its historic masonry exterior while offering contemporary interiors within.
Via Design reworked the kitchen layout to improve flow and functionality, replacing the original peninsula with a central island and integrated bar area. Custom matte black cabinetry by CLEO establishes a bold, modern aesthetic, complemented by layered materials and refined finishes throughout the home. Additional updates to the fireplace, bathrooms, closet, and laundry spaces create a cohesive environment that reflects the owner’s personality while enhancing the architectural character of this downtown Grand Rapids condo.
